How It Works

Resin bonding stone uses a combination of decorative natural aggregates (stones, granites and quartz) and the highest quality resin, making it incredibly strong and hard wearing. Once bound together it is stronger than concrete. You can apply it to practically any solid surface including asphalt, block paving, concrete and flagstones. It also comes in a wide range of natural colours to choose from.

Resin bound surfacing is a government-backed product because it is permeable. It is fully compliant with SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) regulations and is eco-friendly. Being hand-finished, resin is an incredibly versatile product and almost any design or logo can be added to the surface such as numbers and shapes. We can also add matching manhole covers, steps and stone edgings to help enhance the effect of a driveway, footpath or patio.

Here are the three steps to installing the ultimate driveway, pathway or patio.

Step 1: The Base

Appropriate sub-bases for drives are asphalt, concrete and block paving. If a new sub-base is required, a 100mm MOT Type 1 is installed, followed by a 50mm base of 10mm dense asphalt. Slabs or flagstones are suitable bases for paths and patios.

Step 2: The Preparation

The area is cleaned using a high-pressure rotary cleaner to remove any loose dirt, dust or organic material. It is treated for moss, weeds etc. The free edges are retained using stop bead or edgings.

Step 3: The Application

Your chosen aggregate is mixed on site with a two-part resin. Once mixed, the mixture is poured out on the chosen area and hand-trowelled out to a depth of 15mm on a drive and 12mm on patios and paths. The patio and pathway surface is suitable for walking on after three hours. The driveway can be used 24 hours after installation.
